No Child Left Behind: Public School Choice and S.E.S.
Attention WAMS' Parents:
The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 requires that all schools receiving Title I Part A funding make Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) based on state test results in English-language arts and mathematics. Schools that do not make their AYP targets are identified as Program Improvement (PI) schools.
Although Washington Academic Middle School (WAMS) met all of its targets in the 2006-07 school year, a PI school must meet all of its targets 2 years in a row to be removed from PI status. Therefore, WAMS continues to be identified as a Program Improvement school, and as such your students are entitled to either Public School Choice or Supplemental Educational Services (SES). For more information, clink on the resources below, or call Mandy Chacon, SES Coordinator, at 559-875-6521, extension 223.
